Stavanger is a city in southwestern Norway. The cathedral of Stavanger, located in the center, was erected at the time of the founding of the city in the 12th century. The Stavanger Museum traces the history of the population and contains exhibits of fauna. The Norwegian Petroleum Museum explores the oil industry with submersibles, a huge drilling rig and an evacuation slide. Øvre Holmegate is a shopping street famous for its colorful houses.
